Symon Chalk

Technical Director

From a young age Symon always knew he wanted to work with computers, while other children rode on their BMX’s, Symon would be writing programs on his family’s Spectrum.

School and college did not alter his vision and, with good references from his freelance work, he landed his first job as an on-call IT engineer in the mid 90’s. By the age of 25, Symon was the IT manager of company spread throughout the UK.

His straightforward approach and ability to get results continued to draw attention. By 28, Symon sat on the operational board of a national traffic and travel information provider, managed a team of engineers and programmers and played an active role in achieving the company’s goals.

November 2003 Symon and wife, Caroline, decided to follow their dream and pursue Symcar full time. Symon and Caroline wanted to provide the kind of IT service they believed people deserved and businesses needed.

Since starting Symcar, Symon has continued to develop his interests and skills. He remains passionate about the benefits good IT can have on businesses and on business owner’s lives.

Symon quickly realised that many problems small businesses faced were the same regardless of their industry. His experience and IT know how prompted him to design and build the Smart Office range of products.

On a personal note, Symon and his wife, Caroline, have three children, he enjoys reading and is an avid photographer.

Caroline Chalk

Operations Director

5 Things you should know about Caroline Chalk:

• Caroline is the Operations Director of Symcar, this means she is responsible for all non technical aspects of the company including marketing, sales, scheduling and accounts.
• Caroline has worked in a variety of environments from Safeways to the accounts department of a media company to an IT department in a London trading bank.
• Caroline is a qualified hospital pharmacy technician.
• Caroline works with her husband, Symon and enjoys reading and camping with her family.
• At home, Caroline has three children and two cats.

Nona Jackson

Office Manager

Nona has been with Symcar since October 2006. She is the Office manager for the company and deals with all accounts and administration queries. E.g. The engineers will pass on details of what is needed for a job and Nona will draw up a quote and, if necessary, will arrange the parts and tools. Once the job is done, she will contact the customer and issue an invoice.

She is very efficient at doing her job and always follows tasks through to the end. She always works to the best of her ability. She is a great character to have in the team as she always knows what needs to be done.

On a personal note, Nona is a great laugh and keeps a light atmosphere even under pressure. She does have her ‘special’ moments, and is an avid lover of all things Boosh. She also keeps the office amused with her selection of novelty ring tones.
